Preparing for university

You might be moving on from college, but we’re still here to help. There is plenty of support available over summer whilst you enrol at and prepare for university, and we’re also here to answer your questions as you settle into university this autumn.

As you prepare to finish your programme, you’ll be invited to a number of sessions and events designed to support you as you move onto university. Then, over summer, you’ll receive emails from dedicated staff at your college to help guide you through your next steps.

We’ve also got lots of resources available on Pathways Extra that you might find useful, here: Pathways Extra (opens in a new window).

Maybe you’d like to increase your confidence before you start university? We’ve got some webinar recordings that could help:

Perhaps you’d like to strengthen your language skills? Or make a plan to improve your employability skills whilst studying? Just visit the Pathways Extra homepage linked above to see the full range of resources available.

Ask us anything about preparing for university!

We have a range of ways for you to get your questions about university answered. As you transition from student to alum, you’ll be invited by your college to various sessions and activities, and you’ll receive emails with all the details and guidance you need. You’ll have plenty of chances to ask questions, whether you’d prefer to do so by email, in person, or on a call.

We also have brand new drop-in sessions across many colleges. These informal virtual drop-ins provide the chance to ask anything you want to know about moving on to university. Whether you have questions about enrolment admin, where to find support, what to expect when you get there, or something else, just pop along to ask your questions - staff will either answer them for you on the call or point you in the right direction. Don’t forget though, you don’t need to attend a session to ask for support – you can get in touch with your college with questions at any point throughout the summer.

Plus – some of our alumni told us they’d still like the chance to ask us questions as they settle into university, so you’ll also be invited to a drop-in session during your first term.
