Ian HammondIan Hammond MBE helps teams achieve the seemly impossible.
With over 15 years of industry experience and as a qualified Programme & Project Manager, Ian graduated from Durham University in Software Engineering in 2005, and joined BT via their graduate scheme. He has delivered new software solutions, communications infrastructure, business processing outsourcing arrangements and security infrastructure for both private and public sector customers. Ian has extensive experience of business transformation, helping improve customer experience and employee engagement, and reduce operating costs. He is experienced and specialises in turning around struggling programmes or leading the most complex deliveries, such as the communication services for the Nightingale Hospitals and the London 2012 Olympics.
Ian was honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020 for his work at BT supporting the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic. Outside of work, Ian holds a major role within the national charity, The Scout Association, planning and delivering a programme of high quality events for young people in his local area and chair a charitable business. Ian acknowledges the significant role this has played in his personal and professional development and his journey to success today.
Meet the KICL College Panel
Khalifa Alblooshi studies Foundation Certificate Science & Engineering at Kaplan College in London. He wishes to progress from Kaplan International College London to continue his studies in the field of Computer Science and is especially interested in Artificial Intelligence. Khalifa is from the United Arab Emirates and is currently studying his course digitally from overseas.
Duy Chinh Dinh is known as Tony and is from Vietnam. He is currently studying towards Foundation Certificate Science & Engineering and hopes to progress to study Computer Science at Queen Mary's University. He enjoys learning about coding (and playing the guitar!) in his free time.
Rebin Barzani is a Foundation student, currently completing Business, Law & Social Sciences, intended to progress to Westminster University to study Business Management with special focus on Entrepreneurship. Rebin is from Kurdistan Region in Iraq - and has an interest in playing music as well as many other hobbies.
Vanessa Carralero-Lozano – Vanessa works at KICL as part of the College Services team. Vanessa is responsible for Social Events and Activities as well as maintaining the colleges Social Media presence. Vanessa has coordinated a series of events which will look at how to make yourself stand out from the crowd as a student and when applying for jobs – Vanessa joins the panel to ask Ian for his experiences and tips for standing out, both personally and when he is recruiting to his projects and the BT graduate scheme.
