Helen Kimber
Helen Kimber is a manager within the Prudential Regulation Authority at the Bank of England. Following studying for an undergraduate degree in Maths and Spanish, and a Masters in Finance, Helen started her career at the Financial Services Authority, just as the financial crisis of 2008 started to develop. She has spent the last 12 years working in regulation, covering different areas including investment banking, life insurance and working in the credit risk specialism. The Bank of England is the UK's central bank with responsibility for both monetary and financial stability within the UK.
Meet the Panel
Shifra Mugeni - Shifra completed a Foundation Certificate in Business, Law and Social Science at Liverpool International College. She has now progressed to the University of Liverpool where she is studying Law and will graduate in 2021. Originally Shifra is from Rwanda, and she particularly enjoyed the opportunities her Pathway College provided her with, especially to meet people and make friends from different parts of the world. She has welcomed the chance to interact with people who have made her learning experience fun, particularly enjoys the interactivity of classes in the UK and being part of a big and diverse community. Shifra’s biggest piece of advice for new students is to ask for help is anything is unclear!
Fahd Fayd - Fahd is a student of Computer Science at The University of Glasgow. He has big study aspirations and hopes to progress from his degree onto a Masters course in the future. Fahd has enjoyed taking the opportunity to explore new cultures, get to know a new city and see the world and explore during his studies. Fahd says that one of the best things about his Pathways experience is that he has made new, lasting and lifelong friendships as a result of his Kaplan Foundation Certificate.
Richard Cotterill - Richard is an Associate Lecturer in Business and Management at The University of York International Pathway College. Richard has taught Business and Economics students for over 30 years and currently teaches on both the Foundation and Pre Masters programmes at York. Richard has a specific interest in working with international students and is currently working towards a doctorate with particular focus on this area. Richard also has interests in the areas of evidence-based teaching and learning, behavioural economics, and business psychology.
