For this activity:

You will need access to The Internet and to write down your answers in your Mahara e-portfolio.

In this theme, we have learned that there are common myths of entrepreneurship.

Can you describe the evidence that debunks the myth that entrepreneurs are motivated primarily by money?

Write an essay-style answer to the question and include explanations of the evidence you provide.

To better answer this question, it would help if you do some research and reading about this topic. Use the internet to discover how successful entrepreneurs have been motivated to be successful.

Try to give some examples of why entrepreneurs start new businesses and what their primary motives might be. To illustrate your examples, research entrepreneurs whose behavior supports your argument. You may want to discuss how their personal characteristics or other reasons drive them rather than the pursuit of wealth.

You should make sure that you use at least three sources when checking that a fact is correct. You should try and limit your sources to reputable websites such as news websites or sites that are maintained by well-known and respected organisations.
