Case Study

Mrs. A has just moved into a new city with her family - two children and her partner. The city is a relatively small one in size and everyone seems to know everyone and have a close bond. However, Mrs. A is struggling with childcare services as both herself and her husband are professionals who work every day.

She has observed that other parents seem to be handling childcare difficulties by relying and supporting each other. Mrs. A is thinking of leaving her day job to start a childcare/child minding business, but there is already a company that offers childcare services.

Tasks:

1.     Mrs. A has asked you as an expert in entrepreneurship if you think this is a viable idea and if there is an opportunity she can capitalise on? She wants to know if she should just settle down and rely on the closeness of the community to help her with childcare, or if she should take the plunge and start the business.

2.     Create a short presentation describing your opinion and what you would advise Mrs A to do. You should Justify your answers.
